Not the company’s crisis team. Yours.

The last call before the meeting. The first call after. Before a whisper becomes a headline.

Companies have communications teams, HR departments, boards, and outside counsel. All of them work for the company. When the situation inside the company is about you, you need someone who works for you.

I'm Aliza Licht, a private communications and reputation advisor to executives, founders, and senior leaders. I work alongside your legal counsel through investigations, reorganizations, board disputes, departures, and press exposure. I also work with leaders before any of that — on executive and online presence, and how they want to show up.

I'm based in New York and work with clients anywhere.

I hold up the mirror. You get clarity.

What I do.

The best way I can describe it: Consigliere. I'm the voice in your ear before you walk in. I read every draft. I sit in on the calls that matter. I tell you when your instinct is right and when it's the situation talking. I'm part strategist, part fixer, and part the person you actually tell the truth to.

When it's serious, I work alongside your lawyer, not instead of one. Legal protects your position. I protect your standing. Together we decide how you show up: what you say in the room with HR, how you write the email to the board, what you tell your team, how you carry yourself in the hallway, what goes on LinkedIn and what doesn't, and, if it comes to that, what you say to the press. And we think about the day after this is over, when you'll need a career, a reputation, and a version of events that is yours.

I've sat on the other side of the table, running teams and communications for companies. That means I know what everyone is thinking, what legal is protecting, and what the board is afraid of. That's how I can tell you what they'll do before they do it.

The situations.

  • A reorganization has been announced, and your role is the one people are whispering about.

  • You’re the founder, and the board has started talking about the company in a way that’s really about you.

  • You’re leaving, on your terms or not. The announcement goes out Friday. What you say in the next seventy-two hours decides the next five years.

  • You’re in a bad situation with your company and every conversation now involves HR, legal, or both. You know what you want to say. You don’t know what you should.

  • A reporter has your name. Legal says say nothing. Your instinct says silence is its own statement.

Yeah, I do all of that, and more.

Before there’s a situation.

Not in a crisis? Good. That’s when this is easiest. Positioning, the job you’re going for, the raise, the board seat, the launch of the thing with your name on it. The same counsel, before it’s urgent. Book an hour, or start with the book.

How it works: Let’s start with a chat and then we’ll decide. I can be retained for an hour or the duration, however long that is. Discreet by default. I can coordinate with the company’s own communications or legal team. You’ll have my number, and you’ll use it.

The other people.

Sometimes the situation has a name. Someone in the building wants you gone, or wants your job, or wants the story told a different way. I’ll help you see them clearly, and I’ll help you be the most gracious person in the room and the hardest one to move.

Questions people ask.

Is this crisis PR? Only if the crisis reaches the press, and most don’t. Crisis PR protects a company’s reputation with the public. I protect a person’s standing inside the company, with the board, with the team, and, if it comes to that, with the press. The order matters.

Is this executive coaching? No. A coach helps you grow over a year. I help you get through Thursday. It’s advice, it’s specific, and I’ll tell you what to say.

What if I’m not in a crisis? Then this is the easy version: positioning, the next role, the raise, the board seat, the launch with your name on it. Start with a call, or with my book, On Brand.

Is it confidential? Absolutely. No client is named on this site by design.

Nobody plans for this.
